If you decide to go ahead and commission me, there are a few things you should be aware of.
I use professional grade, museum standard products to ensure lightfastness and longevity, so your art will last a lifetime.
Colour portraits are often drawn on a special artist’s paper called Pastelmat. It has a cork face to allow for multiple layers of pastel and coloured pencil to adhere to the paper. This process can create dust which can smear, and although your art has been sprayed to prevent this it does not fully do so and the pencil can still smudge if touched. Therefore please try not to touch the actual artwork.
Of course, accidents do happen so if a smudge does appear you can use a small piece of Blu-tac warmed between your fingers and lightly dab (do not rub) to lift the pencil off.
Another surface I often use is Polydraw, which is a film. It allows for precision art to be placed on different coloured backgrounds and the matt film gives a muted background. Should you decide to re-frame your artwork at any time in the future, please ensure the paper behind the film is also transferred, or swapped for a different shade if you wish, giving a whole different outlook to the viewer.
I choose the surface I work on subject to the reference image provided.
