FAQ

What do I need to supply to commission a portrait?

I work from reference photographs you supply. I generally like to see a number of photographs and videos, if you have them, so that I can get to see a little of the personality. This also helps me to understand colouration better too as different lighting conditions have a big impact on photography. I will ask you to choose your favourite photo and the one showing how you see the colours to be correct, but may suggest another if it is a better composition or quality, which is entirely up for discussion. The better the image quality, the better the portrait.

If I want a number of subjects, but cannot get a group photo, can you work from different photos?

Yes, absolutely. I can crop all images and merge them together to create a composition you're happy with.

What is your timescale?

I usually work on a three month turnaround, however, if you have a specific date in mind that you want your artwork for, please let me know prior to checkout to ensure I can fit you into my schedule.

Can I pay in instalments?

I generally ask for a 50% non-refundable holding deposit to secure your space in my diary. The remaining 50% can be paid in two instalments with all monies settled upon approval of the final digital proof, prior to shipping.

Do you use digital software to produce the portraits?

No, definitely not. Due to the details I include people often mistake my portraits for a photograph, but they are hand drawn using coloured or graphite pencil.
